Bollywood is the informal name given to Hindi-language film industry situated in Mumbai, India. It is the biggest film industry in India and one of the biggest in the world, producing a huge number of films every year. Bollywood films are known for their formulaic storylines, expertly choreographed various fight scenes, spectacular song and dance routines, emotional melodrama .

Not every Indian films are considered Bollywood films. Other regional film industries in Madras and Calcutta exist alongside Bollywood and often eschew the songs and large budget productions that are hallmarks of Bollywood films.

Bollywood films are more popular in India and abroad in comparison of Hollywood films with the exception of Hollywood blockbusters. India has the most prolific film industry in terms of sheer output and numbers of film viewers.

Bollywood films are often longer than Hollywood movies.
Indian cinema produced 1,986 feature films in 2017 with Bollywood as its biggest filmmaker produced 364 Hindi films that year.

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are also highest-paid actors earning 85 Crore ’60 percent share in profit, and 80 Crore ‘75% share in profit, per film respectively.

The highest-paid female Bollywood heroine is currently Deepika Padukone she earns between 15 – 30 crores per movie.
Priyanka Chopra is among the highest-paid actresses she earns between 14 to 23 crores per film.
